When God Shoves You Toward Your Destiny
A 125-page, 8-chapter book for anyone who needed one more push. Based on 1 Samuel 16:1 — what feels like rejection is often redirection. Richard G. Clark writes with the conviction that God's timing is never late, and your season hasn't passed.

"I had given up. I had fallen deep into depression and become a recluse — until God pushed me into something I didn't see coming."
Within the span of a single year, Dr. Richard G. Clark lost his mother, his sister, his nephew, and his brother. His mother and his nephew — only 30 years old — passed just three months apart. For a man who had spent his entire life serving others, building ministry, and walking boldly in his calling, the grief hit like a wall. He stopped. He withdrew. He let the darkness in.
What followed wasn't a quick recovery or a tidy testimony. It was a slow, painful, honest reckoning with God — one that eventually led to something unexpected. God began pushing him. Not gently. Into things he hadn't chosen, toward a purpose he had nearly abandoned. And in that push, Dr. Clark found his way back — to his faith, to his mind, to his heart, and to his calling.
The Push You Needed is the book that came out of that season. It was not written from a stage. It was written from a valley.
And if I'm being honest — I didn't write it just for me. I wrote it because I know there is somebody reading this right now who is sitting in their own version of that year. Maybe it's not loss. Maybe it's a broken marriage, a failed business, a prodigal child, or a ministry that fell apart. Whatever it is, you have felt like nobody could possibly understand how deep that valley goes. I want you to know — I get it. I've been there. And this book is my hand reaching back into that darkness to push you forward — just like God pushed me.
"The push was never punishment. It was preparation. And I needed to walk through my own darkness before I could write that with any honesty."
A proud Memphis native and graduate of Central High School, Dr. Clark holds a BA in Entrepreneurship (Magna Cum Laude), an MBA in Marketing, a Juris Master, and a Ph.D. in Government, Law and Policy from Liberty University, and a Doctorate in Theology from Freedom Bible College and Seminary. He is an inductee of Omega Nu Lambda, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Delta Mu Delta National Honor Societies. He served with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office for over 12 years and has pastored Ebenezer Baptist Church in Memphis for over 31 years. A proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (West Memphis, Arkansas), he carries brotherhood as seriously as he carries the Gospel. He is the proud father of Jasmine and Richard, and grandfather of Jayden and Zoey.
I read this in one sitting. Every word felt written for me. Chapter 4 made me stop and just sit with it. Exactly what I needed.
Dr. Clark doesn't write to impress — he writes to heal. I've bought three copies for people in my congregation on the verge of giving up.
I was ready to walk away from everything God placed in me. Chapter 7 stopped me cold. The push was never punishment. I know that now.

From small congregations to large churches — Scripture Studio is transforming how ministers prepare and teach.
I've been preaching for 22 years and Scripture Studio is the first tool that actually fits how I think and prepare. My entire sermon library is finally organized in one place. I can't imagine ministry without it now.
The 5-translation Bible reader alone is worth every penny of the subscription. Being able to compare The Message alongside KJV while I'm preparing has completely changed how I exegete Scripture. My congregants feel the depth.
The Sermon Development Studio helps me connect insights across years of messages I'd forgotten about. It's like having a research assistant who knows every sermon I've ever preached. Absolutely brilliant.
As a Bible study teacher who isn't a full-time pastor, I was worried this would be too preacher-focused. Scripture Studio is perfect for teachers too. The topical scripture finder and illustration library are things I use every single week.
The commentary feature with Pastor Clark's pastoral notes is unlike anything else available. Having a trusted voice frame the passage before the historical commentators speak gives me exactly the angle I need for my congregation. Outstanding.
I used to use six different apps for sermon prep. Now I use one. The prayer journal alone has transformed my morning devotional time. When I scroll back through answered prayers it builds my faith in ways no sermon ever could. Thank you for building this.
Compare side-by-side and see how different translations illuminate the same eternal truth.
Scores across four categories out of 80 — with a Biblical Soundness badge on every evaluation.
Nothing builds faith like a written record of answered prayers. Scripture Studio's prayer journal helps you log requests, mark answered prayers with the date, and watch God's faithfulness accumulate over months and years.
Most apps were built by developers. Scripture Studio was built by someone who understands what ministry actually demands.
